Flight attendant’s grim motive to not put on shorts on aircraft
A flight attendant spilled all about his top flight tips – and the hygiene warnings were shocking.
The TikTok sensation has been a cabin crew for years and advised social media users to cover up when on a plane – but not for the reason you think. His biggest piece of advice: don’t wear shorts next time you jump on a flight.
Try not to fall asleep with your head on the window, either. You could come to regret it…

This friendly advice has come from a flight attendant, @tommycimato, who has posted a video on TikTok with five health and hygiene tips for airline passengers.
“Do not fall asleep or lean your head on the window,” says Tommy. “You are not the only one that has done that and you don’t know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things all over the window.”
That leads him on to his tip about not wearing shorts and he imparts the sort of advice that once you’ve heard you’ll probably never forget. “Don’t or try not to wear shorts when you’re on an airplane,” he continued.
“It’s the same thing as the window – you never know how clean it’s going to be, so if you have pants, you’re going to have less germs.” But Tommy did not stop there, he addressed the area of most concern – the bathroom.
“Do not ever touch the flush button with your bare hands. It’s honestly just super unsanitary and pretty gross, so when you flush, use a napkin or tissue that’s in the lavatory,” he says.
“Don’t forget to drink water. Stay hydrated. You want to have about 16oz for every flight that you go on, so keep that in mind.” And he encourages passengers to get the attention of the cabin crew if necessary.
“Don’t feel afraid to let a flight attendant know if you’re feeling sick. So if you need food, water or an air sickness bag, please feel free to let us know.”
