Harry and Meghan’s neighbours ‘fed up’ and ‘can’t look forward to her to go’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s neighbours are reportedly growing tired of the high-profile couple.

The Duke of Sussex, who celebrated his 40th birthday on Sunday, announced his exit from the Royal Family with his wife in January 2020. The pair later moved to California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet. They bought their £12 million mansion in 2020, and their neighbours have started airing their views about the globally famous couple.

One anonymous neighbour didn’t hold back when speaking to The News, saying they “cannot wait for her [ Meghan Markle ] to go”, as reported by the Express. Frank McGinity, a navy veteran living next door to the couple, was less harsh but said he was “turned away” from their gates.

It’s claimed that Frank, 88, was asked to leave after he approached the gate with some local history films, hoping to help the Sussexes settle into their new surroundings. He stated that “they’re not interested”. Frank, who had the films on a CD, detailed how he was dismissed by the couple’s security team in his memoir, ‘Get Off Your Street’, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Frank voiced his surprise at the couple’s decision to move to the Riven Rock Estate, where residents are “typically” older. He also told the Montecito Journal: “We don’t see them very much around here.”

Earlier this month, Harry and Meghan’s neighbour, Richard Mineards, expressed to The Telegraph his disappointment at the Royal couple’s lack of presence in the neighbourhood. He noted that Harry is occasionally seen with his security detail during rare public outings, whether cycling, taking a beach stroll, or grabbing a bite.

Meghan has been spotted now and then having lunch with pals or hitting up the local market. Richard pointed out that the community is eagerly “waiting for them” and “gnashing at the bit”.

In January, another local, Barry Maher, vented to the Mirror about the growing frustration with the Sussexes’ “travelling soap opera”. He highlighted their home in a “considerably pricier spot” and how they are rarely seen by neighbours.

Barry, who specialises in PR and communications, observed that while no one in the area is “exactly living in cardboard boxes”, the patience of the locals seems to mirror the broader USA sentiment. He mentioned that those who do support the couple show “unlimited tolerance”, while others are either unimpressed by the “travelling soap opera” or fed up with the relentless media frenzy.
