Michael Jordan’s £21m dwelling ‘lastly offered’ after being deserted for 12 years

Basketball superstar Michael Jordan may finally be about to sell his abandoned Chicago home over 12 years after it went on sale.

The massive 56,000-square-foot property was first listed in 2012 for a cool $29 million (£21.9 million). Now, the property will cost you the equivalent of a relatively paltry $11.2 million.

But if you were the Daily Star reader thinking of parting with that sort of cash, it appears someone might have beaten you to it.

MJ hasn’t lived at the property since 2012

The listing is now shown as “contingent” on Realtor.com. That means a sale could be due soon, but certain conditions may have to be met by the buyer.

The house comes complete with a number 23 on the front gates, an ode to MJ’s NBA career with the Chicago Bulls, and even a putting green with an Air Jordan logo on the flag.

Why wouldn’t Michael Jordan’s home have a basketball court?

A beacon of luxury, the house also comes with a tennis court, an infinity pool with its own grass island and a pond full of fish. On the inside, there is a plush white interior, grand piano, a sitting area known as the “great room” and a set of doors taken from the original Playboy mansion in Chicago.

Inside the Playboy room is a pool table. If guests get hungry, they can eat at a table designed to look like the streets of Baghdad, or one next to a large aquarium

Further lavishness can be found by the wine cellar, library, comfortable cigar room, a gym where the MVP’s Bulls teammates used to work out with him and poker tables. With a further nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms, gusts are spoilt for choice.

But the centrepiece of it all is perhaps the Air Jordan-themed basketball court. The glistening hall is adorned with the name of the six-time NBA champion and that of his children.

Separate from the property is another three-bedroom guest house.

Jordan no longer lives in the property he called home for 19 years after he decided to move to his home state of North Carolina.

He may have had a problem selling the property be cause of how personalised it is. Bruce Bowers of Bowers Realty Group told Business Insider: “It’s clearly his home.”

He added: “There’s a lot of work that would have to be done to make it your own.”

CBS News Chicago sports anchor and reporter Megan Mawicke also told her own news outlet: “Whoever bought this house, if they are going to live in it, needs to be very comfortable with people outside that gate.”
