Scientists investigating the lethal Titan sub catastrophe point out new bombshell

Scientists submerged themselves to investigate the Titan submersible and discovered a shocking new theory.

The 6.7 metre submersible imploded as it descended to the Titanic wreck in June 2023. Titan had five passengers on board who subsequently all died from the sub’s violent inwards collapse.

They were hoping to discover more about the Titanic and examine the eroded wreck. Original theories on why the Titan imploded was that there was a vulnerable spot in the exterior which could not handle the sea pressure – but a recent trip has suggested something else.

New underwater footage has emerged showing the crashed submersible on the sea bed. Scientists showed the footage at a hearing and theorised that the machine malfunctioned days before it entered the ocean.

They expanded, saying the ‘malfunction’ caused the crew members to ‘tumble about’ in the submarine. One member crashed into the bulkheading, which a physicist claimed caused the water to flow into Titan, according to Dr Steven Ross.

This theory lined up with another independent investigation, which Scott Manley conducted. The astrophysicist suggested a faulty connection at the front between the carbon fibre of the hull and titanium ring. This supposedly caused the explosion.

It was said that when the malfunction took place: “One passenger was hanging upside down. The other two managed to wedge themselves into the bow end cap.” A former scientific director for OceanGate, Dr Ross, said he was not sure whether an official assessment took place before the submarine went down.

Despite this, he claimed the staff were competent workers. However, the malfunction has stayed a secret until the trail on Thursday.

Investigator Manley shared footage of the wreck. “Based on what I know and what I see here, the pressure hull failed at the glue join between the carbon fiber and the titanium ring on the front of the sub, that failure propagated backward with the water pushing everything into the rear of the cabin in milliseconds,” he shared on X.

“The front just popped off, the bolts used to hold it in probably snapped due to the water rushing in, and the window shot out, no idea where that is.”
