Plans are said to be underway for Joshua-Fury showdown

if AJ triumphs over Dubois and provided Fury comes out on top in his December 21 rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The anticipated Joshua vs Fury clash would play out over a duo of bouts, with the first bout expected in Saudi Arabia followed by a UK sequel, each predicted to rake in around two million pay-per-view hits and draw massive crowds at a venue rivalling Wembley in size, reports the Express.

A spring date next year is on the cards, setting the stage for what could be the most lucrative fight in modern boxing assuming Joshua fares well against Dubois.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has seemingly confirmed the news, acknowledging that the mega-fight is impending if both boxers power through their upcoming challenges. “The one question I’ve been asked for the last 10 years is when AJ is going to fight Fury,” he remarked.

“If AJ were to win at Wembley and Fury was to turn over that defeat to Usyk in the rematch, you’ve got the biggest fight in the history of the entire sport in AJ vs Fury for the undisputed world heavyweight championship.”

He added: “For AJ, the dream has always been to become undisputed. Next Saturday, he has a chance to become a three-time world heavyweight champion and be one fight away from becoming undisputed, whether that is against Fury or Usyk. To see AJ-Fury for undisputed would be incredible.”

For years, speculation about Joshua and Fury squaring off in the ring has been rife, but as both fighters approach the end of their careers, it’s now or never for the most anticipated British boxing match.

The Watford-born boxer might face Usyk for a third time if negotiations for a bout with Fury fall through, but reports suggest there’s ‘no appetite’ for another rematch.

After the loss against Andy Ruiz in the US, Joshua’s standing stateside has suffered, prompting sports officials to push for a match between him and Fury in both the UK and the Middle East.
