People are ‘waging battle’ on disgusting Harry Potter ‘Butter Beer’ viral pattern

A Harry Potter enthusiast’s attempt at recreating the well-known ‘Butter Beer’ drink has been met with disgust on the internet.

The famous fictional beverage served at Potter pubs Three Broomsticks and the Hog’s Head in J. K. Rowling’s series is a popular menu item at Universal Studios. Tourists and Potterheads alike regularly pay up to £8 for a pint of ‘Butter Beer’ which is essentially just cream soda and syrups.

One enterprising Instagram user had a crack at making a more authentic, alcoholic version of the drink. Starting off with a glass of real lager, the would-be-wizard-brewer then chucked a knob of butter in the glass together with some brown sugar and a “pinch of salt”.

They then shoved the vile concoction into a microwave until “the butter melts” before topping with whipped cream.

“On which step do we throw it away?” someone wrote underneath, clearly not taken with the mixologist’s strategy.

But this was just the start of a slurry of negative comments, ridiculing the video creator for making a “disgusting” drink.

The finished result was heavily criticised

“Vingardium Myocardiosa,” another quipped.

“Yeah, let’s put you in Azkaban next,” someone else suggested. “As a German, this is why we fought you in 2 world wars,” said another.

Not everyone was as scathing, with one person writing: “why is everyone hating this lowkey looks good.”

Gary Oldman, one of the most famous stars of the Harry Potter film, recently claimed he was keen on a return in HBO’s TV reboot to play a different character.

Oldman, famed for his portrayal of Sirius Black in the Potter films, expressed his desire to join the cast of the upcoming TV series. While he hasn’t been approached for HBO’s anticipated reboot, he’s got his sights set on a particular role.

Chatting with IndieWire, he confessed: “No one’s approached me…” and mused about the future casting, “I would bet my money that they will get a whole new cast of people. Maybe in a few years, I could do Dumbledore.”
