Prince William’s ‘horror’ pastime that ‘terrifies’ Kate Middleton

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge share many common interests, but there’s one hobby of Prince William‘s that terrifies Kate Middleton. During a 2015 visit to Dundee, Scotland, where they attended a family fun day, Kate revealed her fear.

It’s well-known that in his younger years, William was fond of motorbike riding. When asked if he still rides occasionally, Kate confessed: “He’s still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it. I’m terrified. Hopefully, I’m going to keep George off it.”

At the time, their eldest child, George, was only two years old, and their daughter, Charlotte, was just a few months old. It appears that fatherhood significantly influenced William’s perspective.

In 2018, after the birth of their third child, Prince Louis, William updated Royal enthusiasts about his biking habits.

While visiting the Isle of Man TT motorcycle races, William admitted he had stopped riding, stating: “I’m a dad of three. I have to tone it down. I miss the big trips, for me biking was always about being with everybody else.”, reports the Mirror.

The future King has often expressed his love for motorbikes and even rode one in London on the eve of his 2011 wedding. In 2008, he and his younger brother Harry participated in a charity motorcycle rally across South Africa.

Prince William has swapped Royal carriages for a more modern mode of transport – an e-scooter. The Prince uses the 10mph two-wheeler to navigate the three-mile round trip from Adelaide Cottage to Windsor Castle, according to The Sun.

“It just makes sense. He whizzes up to the castle when he needs to see the King” a source revealed.

While e-scooters are illegal on public roads unless part of an approved hire scheme, they can be used on private land, which is how William utilises his. “It’s a two or three-mile round trip from his family home at Adelaide Cottage to Windsor Castle so it’s easier by scooter than car or walking,” the insider added.

In 2022, William and Kate, along with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, relocated to Adelaide Cottage from Kensington Palace. The young royals now attend Lambrook School in Berkshire, having moved from St Thomas’ in Battersea.

Despite undergoing major renovations in 2015, Adelaide Cottage is relatively modest by Royal standards, boasting just four bedrooms. However, despite their move, William and Kate have retained their other two residences; Apartment 1a at Kensington Palace remains the family’s London base, and they also still own Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

In 2022, reporter Victoria Murphy shared that a Palace source revealed William and Kate’s relocation was fuelled by their wish for a normal family life. “the move, which a Palace source said has been driven by their desire to have as normal a family life as possible, allows William and Kate the opportunity to offer their children a more rural upbringing away from central London and the hustle and bustle of Kensington Palace, which is a popular tourist attraction”.
