Brits to be hit by ‘megastorm’ as rain wall brings 6 weeks’ value of downpour
The UK has been told to brace for a massive ‘megastorm’ as a 200-mile wide wall of rain is set to batter locations across the country, combined with sporadic thunderstorms.
According to the Met Office, the UK will be drenched by heavy showers and thunderstorms throughout today, with yellow weather warnings in place for a huge chunk of the nation.
It’s expected that Wales, the South West and the Midlands will see the worst of the weather, with relentless rain expected for these areas.

The weather warning was initially in place for up to midnight tonight, but The Met Office has now extended the warning into Monday.
According to Met Office forecasts, the UK could see up to 70mm of rain in affected regions today, followed by a huge 80mm pour down tomorrow.
The Met Office said: “Areas of heavy rain are expected to affect many parts of England and Wales during Monday.
“There is still some uncertainty regarding which areas will be affected by the heaviest rain, but at this stage parts of the Midlands, north east England and east Wales look most likely to see the greatest accumulations.
“However, anywhere within the warning area could have impactful rain through the course of Monday.”
The Met Office also warned that there is the possibility that ‘30-50mm’ of rain could occur within the affected regions, with much of which falling ‘in six hours or less’.
They also added that some locations may see between ‘80-100mm’ over a period of ‘12 to 24 hours’.
Ahead of the storm, experts also warn that there’s some ‘potential for disruption’, with spray and flooding that may make driving conditions ‘difficult’.
The forecasters also add that some rural areas may become cut off by flooded roads, if the weather becomes severe enough. In addition to a small risk of power cuts and loss of service.
