First picture of Keir Starmer’s new kitten launched – and everybody says identical factor

Keir Starmer has released an adorable photo of his new kitten – and everyone is saying the same thing.

The Prime Minister revealed earlier this month that he had agreed to let his children get a new cat. The PM said his family were getting a Siberian kitten called Prince to join their beloved moggie JoJo after “a long summer of negotiations” about getting a dog.

He has now kept to his promise and released a cute photo of tiny kitten Prince, sitting on his documents as he works at a table. Social media users commented on the kitten’s cuteness but many all pointed out a key point – how would this affect Larry, the Downing Street cat.

Larry, who has been Chief Mouser to No10 since 2011, is a familiar face on the steps of Downing Street. The tabby cat was brought into Downing Street in 2011 tasked with tackling a rat problem. Many social users jumped on the new photo of Mr Starmer and Prince to question whether Larry had been kicked out or to voice their defence of Larry and to say that he was still their favourite pet.

It is thought that Larry and the new kitten may steer clear of each other. Plans to allow Prince and Jojo to roam freely are being hampered by the bomb proof door on his Downing Street flat, which is preventing them getting a cat flap. Last week, when asked if his new kitten had met No10’s infamous cat Larry yet, he said: “No, because Prince can’t go out, Prince is young, he’s fantastic though.”

Speaking about getting Prince, he said: “The problem we’ve got, which is the same for JoJo the cat, is that the only door out of our new flat is bomb proof. Therefore, getting a cat flap is proving a little bit difficult. But our daughter persuaded us that the problem isn’t any bigger for two cats than one. And therefore, we’re now getting this kitten.” The Starmers brought their rescue cat JoJo with them to Downing Street in the summer.
