Reason why Arsenal star Ben White has been benched by Arteta forward of City conflict

Ben White was only deemed fit enough to be on the bench for Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City.

Jurrien Timber was given the nod by Mikel Arteta as they shape up for the biggest game of their season so far. The Dutchman will play at right-back with Riccardo Calafiori on the left.

White played the entire match against Atalanta in the Champions League on Thursday night. He has been on the pitch every minute this season.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is also out for Arsenal, who are still missing Takehiro Tomiyasu. Leandro Trossard is back in the team replacing Odegaard, just like he did against Tottenham last weekend, reports Football London.

Arsenal still have their strongest centre-back duo available with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes starting in front of David Raya. Declan Rice returns to domestic action after missing the North London Derby due to suspension.

Ben White will be on the bench today, despite playing in midweek

Thomas Partey joins him in midfield with Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli flanking Kai Havertz in attack. Arsenal know that a victory against last season’s champions will propel them to the top of the Premier League.

City are also missing key midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who was subbed off at half-time in their own European match on Wednesday. Nathan Ake and Oscar Bobb were already confirmed absentees for the home team.

The Champions have the opportunity to establish a five-point lead over their fiercest competitors from the last two seasons, as they aim for their fifth consecutive win. Liverpool had already turned up the heat on both teams by securing three points against Bournemouth earlier in the weekend.
