‘Lettuce’ Liz Truss claims she was proper all alongside in bonkrs rant about reign

“Lettuce” Liz Truss has claimed she was right all along in a bizarre rant marking two years since her disastrous mini-budget.

Britain’s shortest-serving PM insisted the economy would be “in much better shape” if her plan hadn’t been “undermined by the economic establishment”.

She said if she was still in power, then “the economy would be growing” and people would be paying lower energy bills”.

In a strange three-and-a-half minute video posted on social media, she desperately sought to defend her record as she blamed the Bank of England and everyone else but herself.

Lettuce
What a time to be alive this was…

Lettuce Liz, who was booted out of Parliament at the last election, said: “We would see a more dynamic, go-getting economy.

“My government was forced out of office. And instead, what has happened is the continuation of the economic policies that weren’t working for our country.”

The unfunded tax cuts and spending plans announced in her September 2022 mini-budget sparked economic chaos and soaring mortgage rates.

She quit No10 the following month, which meant the Daily Star’s plucky iceberg lettuce famously won a contest to see which would last longer.

But she ignored this in her tirade to mark the anniversary.

She said taxes are at a “record high” while millionaires are fleeing the UK at a rate “faster than any other country” apart from China.

And she added that “things will only get worse” under Labour.

‌She claimed that the “economic establishment” needs to be “taken on” in order to escape the “economic doomloop”.

One critic replied: “My mortgage is still hundreds of pounds higher thanks to you.”

Another said: “You crashed the economy with your mini budget.”

While one wrote: “Go away will you Liz. You’ve got some nerve.”

And another said: “The brass neck on it.”

The former leader, who lasted just 49 days in office, has previously blamed Britain’s “deep state” for thwarting her plans.

She has also repeatedly failed to see the funny side of the lettuce stunt.
