UK’s greatest espresso guzzlers recognized – with one metropolis ingesting 20 cups every week
Cardiff dwellers are the UK’s biggest coffee sippers, guzzling over three brews a day and storming through 20 cups a week, a recent poll spilled.
The survey found Wales go mad for instant coffee, whereas Scousers have a soft spot for a foamy cappuccino, and Londoners love a latte.
A spokesperson for Alpro Barista gearing up to shower Manchester and London with free coffeelicious treats on the 28th-29th September and 5th-6th October, said: “It’s fascinating to see the variety of coffee preferences across different cities.”
“And it was particularly interesting to see the cappuccino come out on top as the favourite beating the classics like a flat white and a latte.”
The early birds of Southampton set alarms buzzing with the average joe hitting the kettle at a bright-eyed 8:06am, while dairy-ditching Londoners bag oat milk as their trendy cup companion.
The caffeine fix buzz has over two-thirds of Brits snubbing the thought of a coffee-less day, as a steamy cuppa is branded an am routine must-have by three-quarters, and 38% claim it’s their morning kickstarter.
According to a survey by OnePoll.com, nearly half of Brits (49%) make their coffee in a hurry and dash off, but one in five have specific routines and rituals they follow when brewing up a cup.
Interestingly, 31% prefer to make their drink at home while 34% enjoy buying one from a cafe. And a whopping 60% believe the coffee making process impacts their overall enjoyment of the beverage.
The survey also revealed that a staggering 78% of respondents are open to trying new types of coffee, but a quarter never experiment with how they take theirs.
A spokesperson from Alpro, who will be offering recipe flavours at their roadshow, including Oat Banoffee and Strawberry Matcha, said: “We’re certainly a nation of coffee drinkers, but the research has shown some can be a little hesitant to try new things.”
“But this doesn’t need to be the case as many may be missing out on an even better coffee by dabbling with different styles and alternatives-to-dairy that bring new flavours and textures.”
“There is an ever-increasing popularity in oat drink which can bring new flavour to the old classics if people don’t want to switch to an entirely different type of coffee.”
“Whatever your coffee preferences may be, we’re encouraging the nation to be your own barista at home and experience new coffee types and ingredients.”
