Friends’ Central Perk sofa sells for an eye-watering sum at public sale
Julien’s Auctions held their Friends 30th Anniversary Auction on Monday where a studio-made reproduction of the iconic couch from the opening credits sold for an eye-popping $29,250.
The orange velvet sofa – which was initially estimated to fetch $2K-$3K – featured carved brown resin paneling lacquered to look wooden and copper-color tassels adorning the front skirt.
The couch was prominently featured at the fictional coffee shop Central Perk where the ‘six 20-something pals navigated the pitfalls of work, life, and love in Manhattan’ during all 10 seasons (spanning 1994-2004) of the beloved NBC sitcom.
The Friends ensemble cast were last pictured sitting on the couch during HBO Max’s 2021 reunion special.
Only the most fervent of fans might recall the dodgy Geller Cup Trophy the friends were vying for during the season three episode ‘The One With The Football.’

Julien’s Auctions were only expecting to get $300-$500 for the studio-made recreation of a blond Troll doll glued to a piece of wood, which was screwed into a metal can base – but someone paid $9,100 for it.
Labelmaker strips on the homemade-looking trophy read Geller Bowl and lists the siblings along with the years they won: 77 Ross, 78 Ross, 79 Monica, 80 Ross, 81 Monica, 82 Monica, and 83 Ross.
Not everything was a recreation though as an original business card for Monica’s Catering – featured in the season four episode ‘The One with the Dirty Girl’ – fetched $1,625 at the auction.
Lisa Kudrow – who played masseuse Phoebe Buffay – wore a long blue-denim coat during the season seven episode ‘The One With Joey’s Award’ which was expected to get between $1,000-$1,500.
Phoebe’s eccentric outerwear featuring faux fur trim and gold-embroidered flowers wound up selling for $5,200 during the auction.

But the size-medium mohair turtleneck – featuring the pinned label ‘People Use To Dream About The Future’ – was sold for $6,500.
Courteney Cox – who played chef Monica Geller – wore a knit top in the season nine episode ‘The One With The Mugging’ which was expected to fetch between $1,000-$1,500.
