Gen Z is at it again – and this time they’ve declared that you absolutely should not be using concealer.

Instead, the trendy age group is opting for bronzer, promising that it is a total ‘game changer’ when it comes to your makeup look.

In a video posted to TikTok this summer, user Sierra Cannon explained that she doesn’t always love the brightening look that most concealers give your under eyes, so she sometimes opts for bronzer instead.

She showed viewers how to get the look for themselves, as she dabbed Saie’s Dew Bronze liquid bronzer under the eyes and on top of the eyelids, blending it together with a large powder brush.

‘I’ve never been into lighter concealers because I feel like it just doesn’t suit my features well, so I tend to make them darker instead of lightening them,’ Cannon, who boasts over half a million followers on TikTok, shared. ‘I’m literally glowing.’

The content creator even made a follow-up video comparing what the bronzer versus the concealer looked like on either side of her face – leaving viewers divided in the comments section over what looked better.

Mattie Lacey-Davidson, who is a London-based aesthetician, also tried out the bronzing hack after seeing Cannon’s video.

Lacey-Davidson tried out regular concealer on one side of her face and the bronzer on the other, but admitted she couldn’t tell which one looked better.

‘I’m not a bronze-y, sun-kissed, glow-y girl, but if I was, and actually, I didn’t think that suited me, but does this make it work on me?’ she asked viewers in the TikTok video.

Commenters were once again divided, with some telling the aesthetician that the bronzer made her ‘blue eyes pop,’ while the concealer made her look ‘brighter’ and ‘more awake.’

‘I like the bronzer side. It might not always work depending on your skin tone (tan in summer, maybe more pale in winter) but I think it looks great,’ one commenter wrote.

Another observed, ‘The concealer makes the whites of your eye brighter so your face looks brighter overall.

‘Bronzer makes your eyes look bluer. So depends on your goals.’

But if bronzer isn’t your thing, don’t worry, you’re still in with the cool crowd, as other Gen Zs have taken the product out of their makeup routines all together.

One TikTok user, Janet Flores, said that she saw someone else make a video suggesting to forgo concealer if you’re over the age of 30 due to it accentuating fine lines and wrinkles.

Flores took the advice, and revealed that she liked the look – and was ‘never’ going to use it again.

Makeup creator @Beautybybanda also recommended against using concealer for a ‘natural makeup look.’

But is replacing your concealer with bronzer in order to hide those dark under eye bags the real deal?

According to a makeup artist, using bronzer may not actually be the solution for your under eye problems.

‘If you’re trying to cover dark circles, using bronzer could actually have the opposite effect and emphasize them,’ New York City-based makeup artist Cat Mignano told DailyMail.com.

‘However, I’m open to the idea of layering it under your concealer,’ she added.

She admitted that the trend can actually make your face look ‘flatter.’

‘Typically, using a lighter shade of concealer under the eyes adds dimension to your face,’ Mignano explained.

This can also help to highlight certain areas of the face, she said.

‘While this look can be cute for selfies or everyday makeup, I wouldn’t recommend it for professional photography,’ Mignano detailed.

However, she does applaud Gen Z for their creativity and fun efforts when it comes to trying out different ways to wear makeup.

‘They’re quick to jump on trends and try new things,’ the makeup artist observed.

‘Trends come and go, but if you find one that works for you, I say stick with it!’
