Organiser wows with uncommon strategy to clear air fryer: ‘Looks model new’

A professional organiser has wowed thousands with her ‘genius’ way to clean an air fryer, but many pointed out a ‘risky detail’.

Bukie Akinmade, better known as The Kitchen Muse online, suggested turning the kitchen gadget upside down to reveal the hidden grease and grime lurking unnoticed on top.

‘Have you ever flipped your air fryer upside down? Do it now! I couldn’t believe my eyes!’ she captioned a now-viral video.

‘I made a homemade Gif cream cleaner and dealt with it. Now it looks like brand new, I’m so pleased.’

She made the cleanser by combining baking soda, dish soap, water and Magic Cleaner in a bowl then carefully poured it into a bottle before applying it inside the unplugged air fryer.

Bukie then used a scour sponge and some elbow grease to clean the appliance before wiping it down with a damp microfibre cloth – and the gadget was left looking sparkling new.

‘Do this last thing at night so it has at least 12 hours to dry before you need to use it again,’ she said.

While many were impressed, others raised concerns about using water to clean an electronic appliance.

The cleaning method quickly wowed thousands and the short clip has been viewed more than 2.5million times.

‘Got to do this on the weekend,’ one wrote.

‘Why did I watch this? Now I have to go clean mine,’ another added.

‘I’ll do this soon!’ a third said.

However, many were quick to point out how you should never wet the element of an air fryer or oven.

‘I’m not taking that risk,’ one said.

‘Electricity and water never mix, how did you clean under the element? And does it still work?’ another asked.

Another person who tried cleaning the air fryer before had a bad experience.

‘I did something similar and got a few drops on the element.. now my air fryer trips the power,’ they said.

‘It’s a definitely NO!’ one more wrote.

You should only clean an electronic kitchen gadget when it’s off and unplugged from power outlets.
