Vogue Williams reveals ‘worst’ false impression about her profession

Vogue Williams has revealed the ‘worst’ misconception about her career, which everyone has been getting wrong for years.

The presenter, 38, told MailOnline she feels ’embarrassed’ about being called a ‘model’ and says the mistake is regularly made even when she is introduced on TV shows.

In an exclusive interview, Vogue insisted the misbelief is humiliating because she has never worked professionally in the modelling industry.

The mother-of-three, who first came to public prominence in 2010 when she appeared on Irish reality show Fade Street, recalled the early days of her career included posing with her head inside a burger to promote a fast-food chain.

She said: ‘Oh my God, I am not a model. That is the worst thing I have ever been called. That is actually my biggest embarrassing moment to be honest because I wasn’t really a model.

‘I was doing shoots where I had my head inside a giant burger for the opening of a burger shop to sell it, that is the kind of modelling I was doing, I was not a real model.

‘Sometimes when I go on a show and they introduce me as ‘model’ and ‘presenter’ I’m like, please Jesus, who said model? Someone is trolling me constantly. The burger shoot was my level of modelling.’

Almost 14 years after her big break, Vogue has nurtured her career, turning the passion she has for interviewing celebrities into hosting several successful podcasts.

Last week, she celebrated a milestone after recording a pilot TV show she defined as a ‘pinch me moment’ and says made all the hard work up until now worthwhile.

It could see her dream of presenting a Saturday night television series become a reality as she hopes to one day team up with husband Spencer Matthews, 36, for the sought-after slot.  

She said: ‘I can’t share it yet, but it was in TV, it’s nothing that is going on TV, but it was a pilot I was working on and something I had really worked towards.

‘Nothing might not ever happen, but it just felt like a moment, I can’t believe I have got to this point, and it was a pinch me moment in my career. 

‘I am always grateful but sometimes a moment like that will happen and it feels so worth it. I feel like I’m not doing everything for nothing, something will come of it.’ 

After getting married in 2018, Vogue and Spencer starred in their own Channel 4 reality series, which documented their lives and arrival of firstborn, six-year-old Theodore. 

Now they also share daughter Gigi, four, and son Otto, two, as well as two dogs, but their hectic family life doesn’t put Vogue off wanting to collaborate with Spencer on new TV opportunities.

She said: ‘My dream job is to be a Saturday night host, sit and chat to people kind of job. I would love to do something like that. Just your big Saturday night show, your shiny floor show, I have always wanted to do that, I think it would be so much fun. 

‘I love working with Spencer, I really do, he’s interested, he wants to work, he’s kind to people and I do really enjoy spending time with him, he is my best friend. I would absolutely love to work with him.’ 

Shortly after Otto’s birth in April 2022, Vogue told MailOnline she would love to have more children, but the past few years have thrown whether she will have another baby into doubt. 

Vogue detailed Theodore and Gigi’s schedules, which include tennis, swimming, gymnastics, athletics, and running, insisting she would find it difficult to add anything more to the family’s busy routines.

She said: ‘I would absolutely love to have a fourth, when I think about Gigi not having a sister, I am so sad that she won’t have a sister. But then you can’t choose so I don’t know.

‘Our house is already full of so much love and happiness. How we could fit in anymore children’s parties on the weekends, I just don’t know.

‘My children have tennis on a Saturday, swimming on a Saturday, gymnastics on a Sunday, running club on a Monday, they have athletics on a Tuesday, there’s just so much going on, I don’t know how I would fit in more.’

Vogue was left with the solo responsibility of looking after her children when Spencer embarked on running 30 marathons in 30 days, which he successfully completed in August.

The former Made In Chelsea star earned a Guinness World Record for achieving the ultramarathon in the Jordanian desert to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise charity.

As he planned the trek, Vogue admits she struggled to believe Spencer would accomplish the hard challenge and anticipated his early return.

She said: ‘I don’t think anyone thought Spencer was going to do it, me included.

‘It was such a wild challenge; I was thinking when will he be back? He will be back around mid-August I’d say, and I was honestly thinking like that because it was such a mad challenge, I thought how could he possibly do it? But he did it and I’m super proud of him.

‘It wasn’t so much having no contact with Spencer because you get quite used to someone being away but what I found hard was he was gone for 40 days…

‘I was trying to organise the kids, there was so much to do. Gigi was starting school, Otto was starting nursery, I had to make sure I had all that kind of stuff organised…

‘There was a lot of life admin going on there as well as trying to make sure the kids were happy and they weren’t in school, they were home all the time so trying to constantly bring them out and do something, that was quite full on.’

This week Vogue celebrated the launch of her new podcast Never Live It Down, which sees the star interview comedians such as Katherine Ryan and Tom Rosenthal.

She also welcomed guests such as Jack Whitehall’s mother Hilary to share their most embarrassing, cringeworthy moments.

Vogue admitted she felt sick from hysterically laughing after recording the series and even Spencer found listening to the episodes funny.

She said: ‘It has been such a pleasure recording the podcast because I have had a lot of comedians on, and they have been outrageously hilarious. 

‘Every episode I record I actually feel sick from laughing by the end of it. I never really thought about that when I was planning it, but I had such a great time recording with everybody.

‘Spencer gave me the biggest compliment he has ever given me today, he said, “I couldn’t believe it, but I laughed out loud at your new pod.” I was like “what?”

‘First of all, wow, I couldn’t believe he listened to it but secondly, he laughed at it, he never laughs at podcasts, so I was absolutely delighted.’

As a seasoned podcaster having already hosted My Therapist Ghosted Me with Joanne McNally and Spencer & Vogue, the TV personality says it’s the guests who really make a successful series. 

She added: ‘Not everyone has been a comedian, but they have all been really, really funny and really giving.

‘When you do a podcast like this the guests are everything, so I have been really lucky so many amazing people have been open and honest about some really interesting moments in their lives.’
