American YouTuber Joel shocked by one factor on first ever Wetherspoons go to
An American tourist has visited Wetherspoons for the first time – and was shocked by something he deemed to be “ridiculous” while browsing the menu.
Joel, who runs the YouTube channel ItsJps, recently embarked on a quintessentially British adventure by visiting a Wetherspoons pub in York for the first time.
He said: “To get a classic curry with an alcoholic drink is £10.60. That right there is ridiculous, in my opinion. I have to see what…obviously, it’s not going to be like the best curry you’ve ever had. I mean, that’s a deal. A meal and a drink for 10 quid. In today’s economy, that sounds pretty good.”
After leaving the popular British eatery, he summarised his experience: “Alright guys; I’ve finished up with my first Wetherspoons experience. Overall, I enjoyed it…” He added: “I just had a couple drinks there so it wasn’t much to judge honestly. There was no music; there was no TVs.
“There was nothing in there but three slot machines so definitely geared towards profit from an entertainment perspective, but overall, I thought it was really nice,” reports the Mirror.
This isn’t Joel’s first trip to the UK, having previously been surprised by certain aspects of British life during his second visit across the pond.
Joel, an American visitor who was pleasantly surprised by the UK’s “impressive” public transport, also found himself charmed by the British pub scene, which he described as community “focal” points.
He commented: “The pub is a place you can just go and talk to your neighbour, get to know your neighbour and just enjoy a pint. It’s not really about the partying as much as it is the sense of community and having the Sunday roast and things like that.”
His observations didn’t stop there; Joel noted the widespread use of vapes among his peers, and on a cheerful note, he couldn’t get enough of the iconic Tesco Meal Deal, tucking into it every day during his stay in the UK.
