Everyman bids for a blockbuster winter with a number of Hollywood hits

Cinema group Everyman is looking for a boost from upcoming films such as Gladiator II and Wicked.

It said revenues rose 22.5 per cent to £46.9million in the first six months of the year, with 1.9m tickets sold – up from 1.6m year-on-year.

And ‘particularly strong’ films have still to hit the screens.

Upcoming: Everyman highlighted the release of Joker: Folie a Deux in October as well as Gladiator II (pictured), Paddington in Peru and Mufasa: The Lion King in December

Upcoming: Everyman highlighted the release of Joker: Folie a Deux in October as well as Gladiator II (pictured), Paddington in Peru and Mufasa: The Lion King in December

Joker: Folie A Deux is out in October as well as Gladiator II. Paddington In Peru, Wicked and Moana 2 arrive in November, and Mufasa: The Lion King in December.

The shares rose 3.5 per cent, or 2p, to 58.5p.

Everyman said it ‘weathered’ pressure on schedules from strike action by Hollywood writers and actors.

Higher admissions were largely due to a ‘strong awards season’, with Poor Things, The Holdovers and One Life drawing good audiences.

Bob Marley: One Love and Dune: Part Two also did well this year.

Even so, pre-tax losses grew to £4.94million from £4.31million.
