Brit dad discovered lifeless in Benidorm after tragic 200m fall was on first vacation

A man has been described by his family as an “incredible father” after he was tragically found at the bottom of a cliff in Benidorm, Spain, by a police officer. Nathan Osman, from Pontypridd, was found on September 29, a day after the father-of-four had gone missing during his first trip abroad with his friends.

During the initial inquest at Pontypridd Coroners’ Court on Monday, October 14, it emerged that Mr Osman had suffered traumatic brain injuries following a drop from a 200m height. Senior coroner Graeme Hughes was informed that the 30-year-old dad-of-four had been drinking with his friends before he split from the group.

A frantic search ensued until law enforcement located Mr Osman’s body, later confirmed by his heartbroken relatives. The coroner has paused the inquest awaiting further evidence without fixing a future date.

With the incident occurring overseas, a delay is anticipated. Mr Hughes extended his deepest sympathies to Mr Osman’s kith and kin.

His family described him as an ‘incredible father’

Earlier this month, Mr Osman’s family released a heart-wrenching tribute to him, saying: “Nathan, 30, from Pontypridd, suffered a tragic accident whilst on his first ever holiday abroad with friends in Benidorm Saturday morning. Nathan worked endlessly to provide for his family but he was looking forward to his first trip abroad with friends. Unfortunately, whilst trying to return to his hotel, Nathan got lost resulting in him taking the wrong path that led to a fatal fall. Nathan’s family and friends are left utterly devastated and heartbroken.

“Nathan was the most doting partner to Katie, the mother of his four children. This tragic accident has left Katie and his four children to live the rest of their lives without him. Nathan’s children were his absolute world and he lived and breathed for them. He was an incredible father and made so many wonderful memories that his children will cherish forever.

“Nathan was the most loyal person, a faultless son, a caring brother, a fun loving uncle and a true friend to anyone that was lucky enough to know him. His smile and his big brown eyes were infectious. He was the kindest of souls and his legacy will live on through his four beautiful children.

“Nathan enjoyed spending mornings at the beach with his children and partner. They loved exploring, being outdoors and going for hikes always having a great time and making beautiful memories. Nathan was totally devoted to his family, and as long as his family were happy, he was too.

“His Sundays were spent at Nanny Mo’s and then at his parent’s home to enjoy as many cooked dinners as he could handle. He enjoyed time at the gym with his brothers, spending time with his sister and catching up with friends. He took great pleasure in spending time with his many nieces and nephews and making them laugh. He wanted the upmost best for everyone he knew and would give help to anyone in need.

“The family really want to emphasise the importance of not walking home alone and to always stay with a friend or family member. Regardless of how you may feel in the moment, please don’t take for granted your own safety. We want Nathan to be remembered for the amazing soul he was and the beautiful legacy he has left for everyone. He will be missed forever.”

A fundraising page which was set up to bring Mr Osman home from Spain raised more than £20,000.

Organiser Benjamin Cooke said: “Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and helped us reach our goal. Your kindness has made it possible for us to bring Nathan home and begin the preparations for the funeral he deserves.

“Even though we’ve met our goal, you can still support by sharing the fundraiser to help spread awareness and keep Nathan’s memory alive. Your continued support brings comfort to his partner, children and family during this difficult time. We are deeply grateful for all your love and generosity.”
