Father, 30, discovered lifeless at backside of cliff after evening out in Benidorm

A father-of-four who was on his first ever lads holiday fell 600ft to his death from a cliff on a night out in Benidorm, an inquest has heard.

Nathan Osman, from Pontypridd in south Wales, suffered traumatic brain injuries in the incident which took place as he walked home on night of September 28, this year.

The 30-year-old had got separated from his friends and after a search for him was launched the next morning his body was found by a police officer at the base of a 600ft (200m) cliff.

An inquest into his death heard today that he died of head and abdominal injuries, with a coroner saying that due to the ‘violent’ nature of his passing a hearing would be needed.

Coroner Graeme Hughes, of Pontypridd Coroners Court, said that there may be some delays in the case due to it taking place abroad and adjourned the hearing so further investigations could take place.

Tributes were paid to the ‘incredible father’ following his death last month in the Spanish resort.

His family said that Nathan ‘suffered a tragic accident whilst on his first ever holiday abroad with friends in Benidorm.’

It added: ‘Nathan worked endlessly to provide for his family but he was looking forward to his first trip abroad with friends.

‘Unfortunately, whilst trying to return to his hotel, Nathan got lost resulting in him taking the wrong path that lead to a fatal fall. Nathan’s family and friends are left utterly devastated and heart broken.

‘Nathan was the most doting partner to Katie, the mother of his four children. This tragic accident has left Katie and his four children to live the rest of their lives without him.

‘Nathan’s children were his absolute world and he lived and breathed for them. He was an incredible father and made so many wonderful memories that his children will cherish forever.

‘Nathan was the most loyal person, a faultless son, a caring brother, a fun loving uncle and a true friend to anyone that was lucky enough to know him.

‘His smile and his big brown eyes were infectious. He was the kindest of souls and his legacy will live on through his four beautiful children

‘Nathan enjoyed spending mornings at the beach with his children and partner. They loved exploring, being outdoors and going for hikes always having a great time and making beautiful memories.

‘Nathan was totally devoted to his family, and as long as his family were happy, he was too.’

It said the Nathan was devoted to his wider family also including his sister, brothers, nephews and nieces.

‘He wanted the upmost best for everyone he knew and would give help to anyone in need,’

‘The family really want to emphasise the importance of not walking home alone and to always stay with a friend or family member. Regardless of how you may feel in the moment, please don’t take for granted your own safety.

‘We want Nathan to be remembered for the amazing soul he was and the beautiful legacy he has left for everyone. He will be missed forever.’

Since his death, £22,000 has been raised via GoFundMe so that Nathan’s family can get the mechanical engineer home to his native South Wales to give him the funeral ‘he deserves’.

The fundraiser’s description also added that money raised will go towards helping his four ‘beautiful’ children ‘who have been left heartbroken’ following his death.

‘Nathan was the smile that would light up the room and to anyone that had the pleasure of meeting him, would tell you that his four children were his whole world,’ it read.

‘A dedicated father who provided his children with the best life.’

Describing the ‘devoted’ father and ‘unconditionally loved son, brother and friend’, the statement added: ‘[He] had so much to live for and this news has come as a massive shock to everyone who was lucky enough to know him.’

His sister added in a separate post: ‘Money raised will be towards getting Nathan home as quickly as possible from Benidorm and if anything extra is raised will be given to his children in honour of what Nathan can’t give.

‘He deserves this help more than anyone! As a family we are heartbroken and grateful.

‘I miss him so much already, he didn’t deserve this! My heart has never felt pain like this and I will long for my little brother for as long as I live.’

A local football club with links to Nathan’s family have also issued a heartfelt tribute to the ‘loyal and loving father-of-four’, who was an ‘unfailing supporter’ of their side.

They added: ‘He was always by his side at training and an ever present at games.

The [Football] family will always be there to support you in any way we can. Rest in peace Nathan.’
