Five methods followers ought to spend the worldwide break, in response to supercomputer
It might be the only thing football fans agree on – international breaks are boring.
We’ve passed the halfway mark now, at least. But there is still six long days until our favourite football clubs are back in action and ready to ruin our weekends. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
However, until then, Daily Star Sport has asked AI, in the form of ChatGPT, what are five activities that could cure football fans’ boredom until club returns over the weekend.
Fantasy football overload
One for the stat geeks – AI recommends spending the entire break analysing stats and reworking your fantasy football team while your friends question your sanity.
And trust me, they will. Perhaps winning your fantasy league isn’t worth two weeks of your life.
“Bonus points for creating elaborate spreadsheets and conspiracy theories about player transfers,” AI adds.
DIY matchday
This one requires a bit of work, AI suggests “setting up a ‘home stadium’ in your living room.
Create your own matchday atmosphere by blasting crowd noises, wearing your team’s jersey, and serving ‘stadium food’ (think overpriced hot dogs and popcorn).
It might not be the most authentic matchday experience – but, then again, at least you’ll be warm at this time of year.
Spooky season
It’s that time of year already, where has this year gone.
And to get into the spirit, AI said: “Host a Halloween costume party where everyone dresses up as their favourite football player, manager, or even a famous football moment. Bonus points for creativity—imagine someone as a “ghosted” player or a spooky VAR official.”
Be warned, however, we’ve all seen enough Halloween blood-soaked Terry Butcher’s or Peter Lovenkrands’ dog.
Create a mockumentary
Think The Office or Modern Family.
“Film a mockumentary about your favourite team’s international players, showcasing their ‘training routines’ or ‘behind-the-scenes’ antics. Use cheesy voiceovers and dramatic music to make it even funnier,” AI said.
Honestly, we might give this one a miss.
Football fan Olympics
AI’s final suggestion is to host a football fan Olympics.
“Organise your own Olympics with friends featuring ridiculous football-related challenges like ‘most creative goal celebration’, ‘best imitation of a manager’s sideline antics’, or ‘longest time holding a remote like a microphone’,” it said.
