Wayne Rooney ‘gave England ace erection stonker’ in coaching with ‘Viagra prank’
Wayne Rooney once apparently had a very cheeky present for an England team-mate.
Former Chelsea and West Ham star Carlton Cole confessed he was forced to train with a raging stiffy, much to his team-mates’ amusement, after claiming Manchester United icon Rooney slipped him a Viagra pill.
“I think it was Wazza and Jermain Defoe at the back of the bus,” Cole recalled in an interview with Des Kelly for Hayters. “I was trying to be a good boy at the front and I’m going ‘I forgot my vitamins – what am I going to do here’.

“They go ‘oh you forgot your vitamins, I’ve got some here for you’. They say it’s multi-vitamins and it covers everything. I’ve trotted off to the back and gone ‘perfect, oh it’s blue’ then bosh it down me.”
Continuing the unforgettable tale, the retired striker – who turned 40 on Saturday, October 12 – told the superb story during an appearance on the Footballer’s Guide to Football podcast, which featured Jermain Defoe as a guest.
“The stonker was there. I wasn’t sexually aroused but it was just there. I was the quickest person around that pitch – I had three legs,” Cole chuckled.
Tottenham legend Defoe, who was also involved in the prank along with Rooney and former Manchester City and Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, recalled the incident further. He said: “Carlton was always smiley, happy and that, so we just thought, if you are going to get anyone, who would take it?
“He just took it because he was thinking, ‘Oh yeah, vitamins, good for my body’.”
Defoe couldn’t contain his laughter as he remembered Cole’s reaction when they told him what he’d actually taken. “I was in stitches. It was the funniest thing. When we told him after . . . his face!”
Defoe added that England boss Fabio Capello never found out about their cheeky prank. However, the ex-Rangers striker reckons such a joke would be hard to pull off today due to the tightness of modern football kits.
Cole, who also played for Charlton, Celtic, and Wolves player, made a cheeky comment, saying: “I had erased that from my memory – you’re bringing back bad memories.”
Even though he didn’t score for England in his seven appearances, Cole’s former Three Lions team-mates hold good memories of him. These days, Cole works as a broadcaster and also helps out at former club West Ham, where he is a mentor to younger players.
