Homebase buyer threatens ‘criticism’ after recognizing ‘intercourse ghost’ in retailer

A Homebase customer jokingly threatened to make a “written complaint” over what she described as a “sex ghost” in one of its stores.

TV and Radio presenter Lauren Layfield shared a video of the poltergeist in the store, quipping that it was having “a very happy Halloween”.

The hilarious video on X shows a collection of ghouls put up to celebrate Halloween. Alongside a witch and Frankenstein’s monster, a Grim Reaper-looking ghost is seen making a back-and-forth motion with his lower body, hidden behind a gravestone that reads “trick or treat”. The footage then reveals Lauren’s disgusted look.

Other people on X appear to have spotted the ghoul elsewhere, and say the “filthy beggar” has popped up in a few stores. One wrote: “I saw him in the Oxford branch the other week, the filthy beggar!” Another added: “I took a similar video other day. There was a group of ppl all saying the same thing.”

Others joked the cat seen on the side of the cauldron at the start of the video would be scarred for life as it was placed directly facing the raunchy ghost. One user wrote: “That poor cat will never unsee.” Another joked: “That’s my Halloween sorted.”

The product, a £48 6ft-tall “Shivering Ghost”, is available in Homebase outlets and online. It is described as a “durable, waterproof” item. The product description reads: “Unleash the spookiness with our 6ft Shivering Ghost, the ultimate addition to your Halloween inflatable collection
