Aussie actor reveals his shock transformation to play a meth addict

An Australian actor has undergone an extreme body transformation and lost 26 kilograms to play a meth addict in his new film.

Sam Corlett shared several confronting images to Instagram of his dramatic weight loss for his new film, He Ain’t Heavy.

The Vikings: Valhalla star revealed his gaunt frame and his radical transformation in before and after photos.

‘With guidance, I ended up going from 92 kg (for Vikings: Valhalla) down to 66 kg for this film,’ he wrote.

‘I found that the physical structure gifted me so much mental clarity and emotional access that helped me serve the character Max.’

Sam told Confidential he only had ‘one meal a day for four months’ and walked 20 to 30,000 steps a day to lose the weight.

However, the actor admitted it was difficult to get back into healthy eating habits after filming ended.

‘(I had) dysmorphia afterwards for sure, I struggled coming back to normal,’ he said.

‘My diet before was training for Vikings and so I had to find a completely new normal and my stomach was used to consuming that much food.’

Sam has been a rising star thanks to his breakout role in the hit Netflix series Vikings: Valhalla.

He studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, before landing a role in the film The Dry alongside Eric Bana.

After falling in love with acting, he landed a part in Netflix show the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina.

But his role in Vikings: Valhalla – the spin-off of Vikings which is set 100 years after the Lothbrok era – has been a game changer.

In the show, Sam plays the lead role of Norse warrior Leif Eriksson, who was said to be the first European to set foot in North America.

He previously told  Australian Men’s Health, he never had his sights set on acting or Hollywood, but rather took up drama in school to help combat his anxiety, which soon evolved into an ‘obsession’.

‘I used to watch the original show with my dad growing up and so I knew that he’d be stoked if I ended up doing this,’ Sam said of his role in the sequel.

‘I sat down at a Netflix meeting and they just said, “At a press of this button, it’s going to 222 million people around the world.” I still can’t grasp that idea.’
