Brit influencer fell to dying on 630ft bridge regardless of household pleas to not climb

A British influencer known for taking selfies in dangerous places has been named and pictured after falling 630ft to his death.

Lewis Stevenson has made a career out of taking pictures of himself at the top of tall structures without any harness or safety equipment whatsoever.

The 26-year-old’s photos on Instagram – where he posted under the name @exp.dition would often go viral, especially his more riskier sets filmed in cities like New York, Budapest or even London where he scaled a building next door to The Shard to take selfies and wild shots.

However, his latest stunt went badly wrong when he fell 630ft to his death from the Castilla La Mancha bridge in Spain on Sunday – despite his family asking him not to do it.

Speaking to the MailOnline, grandfather Clifford Stevenson, 70, said: “We all tried to talk him out of it. We were always trying to talk him out of doing things but that was the way he was.

“He loved doing it, always went out there believing he’d be alright. He did what he did for his own pleasure. He did not get any money for it, he was an adventurer.”

According to local Spanish media, Stevenson was accompanied by a friend who was now said to be “in shock” after the incident.

Stevenson was said to have “lost his grip” while scaling the bridge, and fell to his death, despite a local councillor claiming access to the bridge was “totally banned”.

His body was found at 7.14am on Sunday morning, with a Talavera de la Reina Town Council official stating: “The Councillor for Citizen Security, Macarena Munoz, has confirmed the death of a young man after he fell from the Castilla-La Mancha bridge.

“He was a 26-year-old Englishman who fell while climbing the aforementioned bridge, something which the councillor has made clear is totally prohibited and that we have reiterated on numerous occasions cannot be done under any circumstances.

“According to what we have been able to establish they had come to Talavera to climb the bridge and create content for social media, which has resulted in this unfortunate and sad outcome.

“The judge and the forensic doctor have already authorised the removal of the body, which has been transferred to the funeral parlour.”

And a spokesman for National Police in Toledo added that “The reason he fell is not clear and will be investigated by a local court.”

Fans of his paid tribute to him on previous social media posts, with one posting: “RIP mate. Saw a great deal of the world through your feed, and enjoyed your spirit of adventure and drive to get your work up and out there. Great eye for photos.”

And another commented: “A man really dies when he is forgotten, and believe me, no one who knew you will, rest in peace my friend.”
