Cop does a ‘Karen’ at Burger King as he requires again up over fallacious meal order
A sheriff is under fire for summoning his deputies to a Burger King after they messed up his order in what is a Karen-style “can I speak with your manager” twist.
Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens, who’s facing re-election this year, called in his team to the fast food joint on Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton on March 4, 2023, when his burger wasn’t up to scratch, as revealed by bodycam footage obtained by WSB-TV.
His election rival accused him of misusing his power as he shared the footage to his Facebook account last Friday.

Three officers are seen racing to the scene, where they find Owens waiting in his truck in the car park, out of uniform, and not in an official vehicle. On their arrival Owens instructs one of his deputies to find out the owner or manager’s name.
Then he goes on to explain his issue: “I wanted her [to get his female passenger] a Whopper, no mayo, cut in half, right?”

The sheriff added: “I don’t need no damn money back no more. I just need to find out who owns this place so I can do an official complaint.”
Without hesitation, the deputies attend the restaurant, which had been locked by the staff inside. After some persuasion, the employees unlocked the doors to admit the deputies.
The assistant manager was assured no-one was in trouble, but the police were just looking to get some names.

“There isn’t even going to be a report written,” the officer added. “That guy out there, he’s just going to file a complaint for his food.”
Once they had the manager’s name and the details of the company owning the Burger King outlet, the deputies left without further ado and report back to the sheriff.
Mike Dondelinger, Cavender’s prospective chief deputy, expressed his concerns to WSB-TV, saying: “I think it’s an abuse of power.”

Dondelinger slammed the episode as an act of intimidation and a squandering of resources.
“I’m shocked the sheriff feels so flippant about this issue that he would have deputies run lights and sirens, placing citizens at risk and his deputies at risk, just so he could get information from a business owner that clearly could have been followed up on another day,” he said.

However, the sheriff defended his actions, insisting it was merely a business dispute that any citizen could report.
“I was not in my uniform, and at no point in my interaction with the staff did I identify myself as a member of the law enforcement community,” he recounted to WSB-TV.
“At no point did I indicate my position, nor did I ask the responders to do anything that they would not, had not, or have not done for anyone else who makes a business dispute call.”
