Influencer ‘eaten alive financially’ after horror discovery beneath her dream house

A TikTok star saw her dream house become a nightmare after suffering a bug invasion.

Laureise Livingston went online to list some of the disasters she and her husband encountered after they shelled out millions for their San Francisco pad. The pair had moved into the idyllic rural suburb two years ago, but buying a 100-year-old home came with its setbacks, Livingston said.

“Just a PSA about buying a house in a wooded area – just don’t, she said in a TikTok video, adding their house had “a lot of opportunity for issues. It has been rodents, and bugs, and beetles that have just been eating us alive financially.”

Livingston also recalled the horror after hearing a “scratching noise” underneath her bed in the dead of night. “Turns out we have Norwegian rats,” she said. “And if you’ve ever seen a Norwegian rat, they are literally the size of a squirrel.”

The influencer – who specialises in yoga videos – claimed the critters had taken to chewing through their heating and HVAC piping which was “wrapped in asbestos”. Livingston added the munching rodents had used the toxic material to create nests underneath their home.

The couple were forced to remove the rats, but the whole operation cost them over £7,500 and left them without heat for approximately six months.

Livingston then described how their home-situation was made worse by the discovery of “wood-boring beetles”.

“And then the eggs hatch, and then those little eggies that are no longer little eggies anymore, then go and bite into the wood until the wood is all f**ked up in your house,” Livingston said.

To get the beetle-invasion out of their four walls, the couple had to vacate their property for four days and fork out £5,300 for the house to be fumigated with “poison”.

“Gonna go inside and sit in the heat, but at least the beetles are gone,” said Livingston, indicating to a dead plant wilting away during the costly treatment.
