Serena Williams offers well being replace after discovering lump the scale of ‘grapefruit’
Tennis icon Serena Williams has shared that she’s had a “grapefruit” sized cyst removed from her neck, reassuring fans that she is on the mend.
The 43-year-old sporting superstar had been grappling with a growing cyst for some time.
After a series of tests confirmed it wasn’t cancerous, doctors were still concerned about potential infection or leakage, leading to her decision to have it surgically removed.

Sharing a hospital bed selfie, Serena captioned the post: “So this is me removing it. I am feeling so grateful, and fortunate everything worked out, and most of all I’m healthy.”

The Grand Slam champion, who boasts an impressive 23 titles, added that she was “still recovering, but getting better”.
Serena, who tied the knot with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, hung up her tennis racket in 2022 following the US Open. Over two decades, she carved out a legendary career in the sport.
Earlier this month, the proud mum introduced her 13-month-old daughter to the world. The couple set up an Instagram account for their youngest child Adira, who joins big sister Olympia, aged seven.
Accompanying the post, the caption read: “Oh hello there – I know it’s been over a year but I’m just getting to this.”
It marked Adira’s first public social media splash, connected with Serena and Alexis’ accounts, which came complete with a slew of cute pictures for fans to gush over. One snap features Adira adorably perched in a pink high chair giving the camera her gaze.
Other pics showcase little Adira kitted out in a pink onesie, fancifully positioning her hand in her hair, while another captures a moment of her attempting those first wobbly steps, using a sofa for support. The tot’s Instagram bio is as playful as can be, with the words “Gummy Bear” and a collection of emojis a runner, a heart, and a man on a computer, which could be a cheeky reference to her mum and dad’s careers.
