Sadly though for De Sousa, after recording his win over Humphries and going on to beat Benjamin Drue-Reus and Mensur Suljovic in convincing fashion, he was knocked out in the quarter-finals by Wesley Plaisier, who defeated him 6-5.

And it was Plaisier who went on to win Players Championship 28 too, with the Dutchman defeating Josh Rock in the final 8-7.
