Erik ten Hag names Man Utd legend’s son in squad for must-win Brentford conflict
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has named Jack Fletcher in the matchday squad for their must-win clash against Brentford this afternoon.
The 17-year-old midfielder – son of club legend and first-team coach Darren Fletcher – has impressed in the Red Devils’ academy after signing from rivals Manchester City last year.
He was recently spotted training with the first team before United’s shock draw against FC Porto in the Europa League but was not part of the travelling squad to Portugal.
However, given the club’s recent injury problems in the midfield area, Ten Hag has decided to give the youngster an opportunity by naming him on the bench ahead of their Premier League game against Brentford at Old Trafford.
A substitute appearance today would see him make his Red Devils debut 20 years after his dad who started for United in a Champions League game against FC Basel in 2003.
Pressure is mounting on Ten Hag with United lying in 14th place after just two wins from their opening seven games in the league.
