United followers love their legends reuniting carrying conventional South Korean apparel
Manchester United fans might have been feeling nostalgic on Monday morning.
Despite getting back to winning ways against Brentford over the weekend – Red Devils fans might have cast their thoughts back to better times thanks to Rio Ferdinand’s Instagram post. Ferdinand shared snaps alongside United’s 2008/09 squad.
The centre-back posed alongside Nemanja Vidic, Edwin van der Sar, Dimitar Berbatov and Park Ji-sung while wearing traditional South Korean robes in Seoul. Ferdinand said: “When Ji takes us shopping in Seoul. Ps @patrice.evra swipe… we got you one also.”
“Gonna tell our kids this is the Avengers,” one fan joked. While a second said: “This squad should consider coming back from retirement to help the team!”
“Not all heroes wear capes… mine wear kimonos,” a third replied. And another added: “You need to show this set of Manchester United players what it’s to play for Manchester United!”
All five players were members of the United side which lifted the Premier League in 2009 – clocking up 1,374 first-team appearances for the Red Devils over the course of their careers.
Vidic, Van der Sar, Park and Ferdinand were also part of the side who conquered Europe in 2008, during one of the best periods under the watchful eyes of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The United legends had travelled to Asia to play a friendly match organised by the game company, Nexon, in association with EA Sports. Nexon had organised the clash between FC Spear and Shield United with a twist – one team was full of attackers and the other team full of defenders.
Alongside the United icons, Kaka, Luis Figo, Eden Hazard, Carlos Tevez, Michael Owen, Rivaldo, Diego Forlan, Thierry Henry and Alessandro Del Piero were also present.
