First pictures of ‘beautiful’ private coach lacking in reservoir as search goes on

A desperate search is underway for a missing personal trainer who fell into Dovestone Reservoir. The man, identified as Simon Daniels from Cheshire, was reported missing after a paddleboarding incident with a woman believed to be his partner on Sunday afternoon (October 20).

Emergency services were alerted around 2.30pm following reports of a man and woman in the water. The woman was later rescued and treated for hypothermia and shock.

Despite overnight efforts by specialist police water rescue units and fire crews, Simon has not yet been found. The area has been cordoned off and a large-scale search operation involving fire crews, paramedics, police, specialist divers, coastguard and mountain rescue teams is ongoing.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that underwater teams would continue their search at the reservoir overnight. As of Monday morning, there have been no updates in the search.

Authorities are urging people to avoid the Dovestone Reservoir area while specialist teams make further assessments, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The search for Simon continues to command social media attention, with heartfelt messages flooding in from the community. One concerned citizen said: “Come on brother we are all praying for you,” while another posted: “Really hoping and praying for Simon Daniels. Please god don’t let this be happening to such a lovely guy.”

A third added their voice: “Winsford is at a very heartbreaking standstill at the moment all hoping and praying of your safe return, but also understanding that may not be the case. But you have a town praying so hard for you right now. With love and support.”

Greater Manchester Police gave an update, stating on Monday: “Officers were in attendance at Dovestone Reservoir until late last night to search for a man who had gone into the water earlier in the afternoon.”

They went on to say: “Specialist teams will make further assessments this morning as they continue their search, utilising all the appropriate resources available. We would ask people to avoid the area as this work is carried out, and thank the public for their continued patience.”
