Former Marseille and Moroccan international Abdelaziz Barrada, 35, has died.

Barrada reportedly suffered a heart attack on Thursday (October 24), according to local media in his native Morocco. And Marseille have now confirmed his death with an emotional post on X.

It read: “Rest in peace Abdelaziz. Olympique de Marseille learned with sadness of the death of its former player and Moroccan international, Abdelaziz Barrada.

“Arriving in the summer of 2014, the attacking midfielder wore the colours of OM for two seasons. The club would like to extend its sincere condolences to his family and share in the grief of his loved ones.”

Tributes flooded in on social media, with Morroco star Amine Harit posting: “Abdelaziz Barrada may Allah have mercy on you support his loved ones.” Fabrizio Romano said: “Terrible news as former Morocco national team player Abdelaziz Barrada has passed away aged 35.”

PSG, where Barrada played for their B-team, said: “It is with great sadness that Paris Saint-Germain learned this Thursday evening of the death of Abdelaziz Barrada, Moroccan international, trained at the Club. To his family and loved ones, Paris Saint-Germain offers its most sincere condolences.”

Barrada started out his club career with Senart-Moissey before moving to PSG in 2007. He would never crack the first team with the Parisian giants and moved onto Getafe in 2010.
