Andre Onana made a brilliant double save in the first-half of Manchester United‘s clash with Fenerbahce which left opposition manager Jose Mourinho laughing in disbelief.

The goalkeeper joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2023 but endured a tricky first season as Erik ten Hag‘s men slumped to a humiliating eighth-place finish.

His performances have picked up somewhat over the last few months despite United reaching new lows in plummeting to 12th in the Premier League as the pressure mounds on their Dutch manager.

Onana’s skills were on full display tonight in Istanbul as he denied striker Youssef En-Nesyri twice in a couple of seconds to keep United in front – before the away side relinquished their lead in the second period.

First he got down low to palm away a bullet header which bounced just before his glove, much to the shock of the centre-forward who thought his effort was goal-bound.

He then got himself up just in time to dramatically save a header from the same man but from even closer range, before his teammates mobbed him in delight.

Even Fenerbahce boss Mourinho saw the funny side, initially putting his head in his hands on the touchline before laughing hysterically in disbelief and imitating the save.

The former Chelsea manager was then seen congratulating Onana in the tunnel at half-time, exchanging a few jokey words before slapping the goalkeeper on the back affectionately.

Minutes prior, Manuel Ugarte kept United in the lead against Fenerbahce by throwing himself in the way of a Dusan Tadic shot which seemed destined for goal.

Jose Mourinho’s men tried to work their way back into the game with former Newcastle trickster Allan Saint-Maximin looking his typical threatening self down the right-hand side.

But Ugarte’s intervention as well as magnificent double save from goalkeeper Andre Onana ensured under-pressure Erik ten Hag could give a half-time team talk with his side ahead.

Fenerbahce’s persistence paid off, however, when former Newcastle man Allan Saint-Maximin floated in a pinpoint cross from the left which landed perfectly on the head of En-Nesyri, who gave them a deserved equaliser.
