TNT Sports difficulty apology throughout Liverpool’s Champions League conflict after on air ‘issues’
Liverpool’s Champions League clash with RB Leipzig saw TNT Sports thrown into a panic as they issued an on-air apology due to technical issues.
From the outset, audio snags disrupted commentary quality, leaving Lucy Ward co-commentating inaudibly while Darren Fletcher seemed unaffected at first. However, moments into the tense Wednesday night Champions League encounter, disaster struck with both microphone feeds dropping, forcing viewers to rely on stadium ambience alone, reports the Liverpool Echo.
TNT Sports quickly posted an on-screen apology for their technical woes and much to their relief, no goals were missed during the silent spell.

Fletcher light-heartedly shouldered the responsibility to apologise when sound was back, joking: “Well apologies for the early technical problems here, we can’t quite get the microphones to work inside this stadium.”
A playful dig followed, with Fletcher adding: “German technology and all that – expected it to be better! Apologies, though, sent [to you] from Leipzig.”

Though some issues persisted, including intermittent high-pitched squeals and Ward’s volume dropping again, audio standards were eventually revived to prime quality by the 18th minute.
The game remained goalless until then, but shortly afterwards, the commentators saw Darwin Nunez break the deadlock for Liverpool, with the Reds going on to win the game 1-0 to make it three wins from three in Europe’s elite club competition this term.
TNT Sports, the primary broadcaster for the Champions League in the UK, lost its exclusive rights this year. Amazon Prime Video has stepped in to air one live match per game-week. Additionally, the BBC is now showcasing highlights of the Champions League.
