‘TreatLine’ launched throughout UK cities to spice up Halloween spirit

A new emergency sweet delivery service has been launched to rescue adults in cities where youngsters are left unimpressed by the Halloween treats on offer.

A survey of 1,000 youngsters aged six to 16 found that Brighton tops the list for trick-or-treating, followed closely by Liverpool and Leeds, while Bristol, Birmingham, and London lag behind.

Although 70% of adults believe Halloween is a special night for kids, only a quarter put in a significant amount of effort, while 45% make a moderate attempt.

To come to the rescue, HARIBO has teamed up with delivery service Gopuff to introduce ‘TreatLine’, allowing adults to purchase ‘Monsters Approved’ sweets, such as Sour Skeletons, through the app and boost their trick-or-treat reputation.

On 31st October, sweets will be given away for free in the three lowest-scoring locations, with over 24,000 mini bags available to provide a fair treat for trick-or-treaters.

Phil Murphy, from HARIBO UK and Ireland, commented: “To help save Halloween this year, we want to help grown-ups match the effort kids go to and reward them fairly.”

He adds: “Launching the ‘TreatLine’ is just one of the ways we’re making it even easier to do this, taking pressure off adults to also have a little more time themselves to have some fun.”

One in five adults admitted that their area doesn’t really get into the Halloween spirit, with 32% of youngsters in Sheffield expressing that locals didn’t make enough effort for the spooky season.

And a sizable 14% of adults confessed they’ve never escorted their offspring on a Halloween trick or treating adventure, with one in six only venturing out for the spooky door-to-door ritual occasionally.

The folks hailing from Manchester are seemingly the most reluctant to hit the streets for some sugary loot.

Furthermore, in a crafty bid to dodge the ghostly presence of treat-seekers, it turns out that a whopping half of the surveyed adults have sneakily drawn their curtains to feign an empty home.

Phil Murphy from HARIBO UK and Ireland chimed in with a spirited message: “Halloween gets bigger and bigger every year, we’re helping grown-ups see the childlike joy and happiness in all the fun to be had, no matter your age.”

The poll dished out that the nipper’s top picks for All Hallows’ Eve jollifications are trick or treating, munching on sweets, and sculpting jack-o’-lanterns. When it comes to costume choices, the youngsters are mostly turning up as zombies, witches or vampires all this according to the juicy data from OnePoll.
