Jeremy Clarkson blames iconic TV presenter for Britain’s ‘hopeless’ politicians

Cilla Black is to blame for Britain’s “hopeless” politicians, says Jeremy Clarkson.

He said the late Blind Date presenter “sneered at educated, well-spoken contestants” and hugged “idiotic shop assistants who couldn’t string a sentence together”.

The Clarkson’s Farm star said “Cillafication” had “caught on”, with “one-downmanship” sweeping through the Labour Government and Tory leadership contest between Robert Jenrick and Kemi Badenoch.

Clarkson, 64, said: “To win hearts and minds now, you must explain, as Jenrick has, that your dad was a gas fitter.

“Or that you have an understanding of the working-class mind because, as Badenoch has pointed out, you once worked in McDonald’s.

“‘I left school at three’ –that gets the voters onside in a heartbeat. Muddle up your ‘was’ and your ‘were’ and you’ll be in the cabinet by Tuesday afternoon.”

While admitting he found Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner “sassy”, Clarkson added: “The Cillafication of British politics really has to stop”, adding: “You need to be bright. Very bright. And a lot of our MPs just aren’t.”

Jeremy Clarkson recently made headlines for announcing his opposition to pub giant Wetherspoon’s. The star opened up his first pub The Farmer’s Dog in the Cotswolds, earlier this year.

Despite undergoing heart surgery, Clarkson is said to have made a full recovery, and hopes to expand his pub into an iconic chain like the aforementioned British favourite. Pals dubbed the TV personality Jezzaspoon, after he trademarked a commercial name for the pubs at the UK’s intellectual Property Office.

The legal trademark was filed for: “services for providing food and drink; temporary accommodation; bar services; bars; pubs; public house services; hospitality services; information, advisory and consultancy services in relation to all of the aforesaid”.

A source said: “Jeremy is hungry for success in the pub world and he’s planning a few more boozers up and down the country. And some of his circle have been calling him Jeremey Wetherspoon and Jezzaspoon.”
