Man Utd followers fume at Diogo Dalot’s open web miss ‘that was simpler to attain’
Manchester United fans have been left fuming at Diogo Dalot.
The full-back had a glorious chance to send Erik ten Hag’s side ahead on Sunday afternoon, when he broke the West Ham defence’s line. Dalot skipped past Lukasz Fabianski, leaving him bearing down on an open goal – but, amazingly, he managed to stick it over the bar.
United fans were furious, with some demanding his contract be torn up at half-time. One fan fumed on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Dalot is so, so, so good at that kind of run. And then he gets the ball in a fantastic position and he’s awful…”
“Dalot just ruined my week and it hasn’t even started,” a second said. While a third posed: “Bruno should absolutely be shouting at Dalot at half time I’d be f***ing fuming with him!”
“I want Dalot sidelined for 3 months after his actions in the last few days. Embarrassing,” a fourth replied. And another added: “Dalot should be subbed off I’m not exaggerating.”
Ten Hag’s side were in desperate need of the three points on Sunday, after getting back to winning ways last weekend.
However, Ten Hag has pointed to injuries when asked about his team’s poor start to the season. He said: “Yes, it holds us back in our levels and also in our position in the league. When you don’t have the players available, you can’t line up the best team.”
“We need more players available often. We all have to work together on this point – the players, the coaching staff and all the other staff.
“We have to do better at that because we know when we have them we are a really tough team to play and we can be really successful.”
