Virgil van Dijk is continuing to remain calm about his future at Liverpool after revealing he feels ‘in a good place’ as his contract continues to run down.

The Reds captain again showed how influential he is to the club’s plans for both immediate and long-term success again on Sunday by scoring in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal.

Van Dijk hauled Liverpool level in the mammoth Premier League clash after Bukayo Saka opened the scoring with both teams later settling for a point apiece.

The result moves Arne Slot‘s side in town with league leaders Man City who are just one point above them and maintains a four point gap to Arsenal in third.

However, Van Dijk is part of a core group of important Liverpool stars who are currently in the final year of their contract and will be allowed to speak with foreign clubs in January.

The world class centre-back, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah can leave Liverpool for free at the end of the season unless new agreements are signed to extend their stay.

That would be a massively humiliating situation for the Reds if it gets that far and negotiations are ongoing with the trio in an effort to convince them to commit their future to Anfield.

Van Dijk moved to the club from Southampton in 2018 and has been pivotal to their success in winning the Champions League and a Premier League title alongside other major honours under former manager Jurgen Klopp.

Now, commenting on his future, the 33-year-old provided a tight-lipped update on his plans but made it clear that he is currently happy in his surroundings as Liverpool look to challenge for the league title.

‘Let’s see what happens at the end of the season, I’m enjoying my football,’ he said after Sunday’s draw at the Emirates.

‘I’m feeling very good, physically and mentally. I’m in a good place and yeah nothing more can be said, I just want to keep enjoying the game,’ added Van Dijk.

Van Dijk was made Liverpool’s captain by Klopp during his final game in charge and is an authority figure in the team that has so far been the surprise package of the season.

Any suggestions of needing time to adjust to Slot’s new coaching approach have been rubbished with Liverpool starring in both the Premier League and European competition.
