Meet ‘new Man Utd supervisor’ Ruben Amorim’s beautiful inside designer spouse Maria Joao Diogo

Manchester United are closing in on the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new permanent manager following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

Amorim is currently in charge of Sporting Lisbon and is reported to have verbally agreed to a move to Old Trafford. The Portuguese tactician has made a name for himself on the pitch, but what about his life off it? Amorim lives a happy life with his wife Maria Joai Diogo, after the pair first met during his playing days.

The 39-year-old had a successful career before he was forced to retire after suffering a nightmare anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for Benfica. As a result, he decided to do his coaching badges and enjoy time with Maria before going into top-level management.

Ruben and Maria eventually tied the knot in 2013 in a gorgeous ceremony at the Palácio de S. Marcos church in Coimbra – which was attended by guests from the footballing world.

This included Maria’s brother Antero Henrique, who is well known for his time as sporting director at Paris Saint-Germain. Henrique was a one-time target for United back in 2020 and is credited with bringing Neymar to the French capital from Barcelona in a world-record deal.

Aside from her famous sibling, Maria and her husband have two children together and she’s an interior designer by day and is a co-founder of the company Dois Tons, alongside Raquel Viana.

According to the website, their interior design projects are “designed in which the client’s personality, needs and lifestyle are the pillars of the creative process”. Home staging, lighting and turnkey projects are just some of the services they offer.

It’s unclear if she will continue to run her role in the event of the couple moving to Manchester, but at least they’ll have no issues when it comes to decorating their potential new home in the North West.

Amorim shares a net worth of £13million with Maria, a figure that is likely to rise dramatically if he is appointed as the permanent manager by the Red Devils. He’s currently paid a wage of just over £2m at Sporting, which is set to treble if he agrees to a deal, according to TalkSport.
