It appears beans on toast is only a comfort to some

“Beans on toast really bums me out for some reason. Makes me feel destitute … no matter your circumstance you don’t have to live that way,” replied one person, while another X user wrote: “Beans. They [Brits] have an irrational love of beans at inappropriate times of day.”

Another person wrote: “Your version of baked beans. They’re god awful. Have some bbq or maple baked beans”, while another person quipped: “Beans on toast. It’s not WWII anymore.”

This person was was then told to try it with grated cheese on top, to which they replied: “Doesn’t change the underlying bland white bread toast and soggy bland beans.”

The more obscure aspects of British culture that confused non-Brits were Ricky Gervais, “the often nasty put-downs between people who supposedly like each other, be it friends, lovers, or colleagues”, the need to drink while hungover and “judges in courtrooms wearing those silly gowns and wigs”.
