Couple flew to Ibiza for 17 hours and partied all night time to keep away from reserving a lodge

A couple flew to Ibiza for 17 hours just to rave the night away without splashing out on a hotel.

Paul Coulson, 45, and his wife Suzanne, 42 from Newcastle were desperate to party at the Horse Meat disco closing bash. They jetted off from Newcastle at the crack of dawn on October 26, landing in sunny Ibiza at 11.40am local time.

They kicked off their epic day by mooching around the old town, eating tapas and sipping drinks, then soaking up the sunset vibes at a hilltop bar.

Dinner at Pikes Ibiza was next on the menu before they boogied on over to the main event, dancing through the night. Knackered but chuffed, Paul and Suzanne legged it back to the airport at 5am post-rave to catch their 8.50am flight home, even taking a detour via Amsterdam to get cheaper tickets.

They touched back down in Newcastle at 5pm on October 27, absolutely buzzing from their adventure. Safeguarding company worker Paul, from Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, said: “We crammed it all in.”

He added: “We love Ibiza. We love Pikes and they were having closing party.”

For him and curriculum lead Suzanne, this day trip had been on the cards for a while, and when they clocked their favourite DJs would be spinning the decks in Ibiza on October 26, 2024, they knew it was now or never.

This wasn’t Paul’s first rodeo – he’d already hit up Ibiza twice that year, once with Suzanne – and they both have a soft spot for Pikes Ibiza. So, they planned their blitz visit around the event, shelling out £140 for return flights.

Despite the heavy spending on food, drinks, and taxis, which totalled around £350, they skipped the hotel stay, saving a bundle as Paul explained: “We didn’t hold back on spending.

“Horse meat disco is the DJs we love and we love the atmosphere of what Pikes offers.

“I fully recommend people doing a day trip.”
