Man Utd followers declare the ‘Erik ten Hag period is over’ as Casemiro nets screamer vs Leicester
Manchester United fans have declared the Erik ten Hag era is over as Casemiro netted the first goal since the Dutchman was sacked.
Ten Hag was dismissed on Monday – after the Red Devils sank to a 2-1 defeat to West Ham over the weekend – leaving Ruud van Nistelrooy in the hot seat on Wednesday (30 October) evening. And Casemiro, who netted over the weekend, took aim from range, finding the back of the net.
“What a goal to begin the post Ten Hag era! What a goal by Casemiro. This is our Manchester United,” one fan shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. While a second posted: “It’s only right that the first goal in the post Ten Hag era is a banger!”
“Took United no more than 16 minutes to outperform the Ten Hag era,” a third joked. And another added: “What a f***ing strike to start the post Ten hag era!”
Daily Star Sport reported earlier this week that Ten Hag believed he had been let down by three senior players – Casemiro among them.
Speaking about Casemiro back in September, Jamie Carragher didn’t pull any punches: “I think Casemiro should know tonight that he should only have another three games left at the top level. The next two league games and the cup final, then he should be thinking, I need to go to the MLS or Saudi.
“This has to stop because we are watching one of the greats of the modern time. I always remember the saying ‘leave the football before the football leaves you’. The football has left him. At this top level, he needs to call it a day at this level and move.
“The level of that player, he should not be putting himself through this. He is too good of a player to be putting in a performance like that being laughed at by Crystal Palace. He needs to call it a day.”
