Ruben Amorim’s ‘perspective’ and ‘dedication’ mocked after ‘agreeing to take over at Man Utd’

Ruben Amorim has been criticised for his ‘attitude’ and mocked for his ‘dedication’ to the club amid rumours of him becoming the next Manchester United boss.

Following Erik ten Hag’s departure from Old Trafford on Monday, Amorim quickly emerged as the favourite to fill the vacant managerial position.

Reports on Monday suggested that Amorim had agreed to take over at United, with negotiations underway between the two clubs regarding a compensation package for the 39-year-old.

However, during a post-match press conference on Tuesday, Amorim stated that nothing had been finalised regarding his future, ahead of a weekend where both United and Sporting are set to play.

Jaime Marta Soares, former chairman of Sporting’s General Assembly, has lambasted Amorim’s handling of the situation, predicting a backlash from the club’s fans. “[Ruben Amorim’s] attitude and personality seemed like one thing, but that fell apart from one moment to the next.

“His love, passion, and dedication to Sporting were just fantasy situations,” Soares told Radio Renascenca. He was the one who created an environment with an entire Sporting fanatic nation around him, who adored and respected him. He shouldn’t have spat in the plate that gave him his soup.”

“I’m a fan of Ruben Amorim, but there are things that shouldn’t be allowed. It was at Sporting that he made his name,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

The football legend dished out some real talk, saying: “If he hadn’t let himself get caught up in the dream of making millions, and since he was adored by Sporting fans, he should have thought about leaving through the big door and not this way. Sporting fans will certainly react.”

In other news, goal machine turned gaffer Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to take temporary reins at United, steering the squad in Wednesday evening’s spicy Carabao Cup face-off with Leicester City at their own stomping ground.
