‘Lettuce’ Liz Truss says the Tories could be ‘loopy’ to rule out Reform UK pact
Lettuce Liz Truss says the Tories would be “crazy” to rule out a deal with Reform UK.
Britain’s shortest-serving PM has admitted supporting the idea of “joining up” with Nigel Farage before July’s election. She believes his party could attract voters the Conservatives could not and called for a “bigger popular movement” on the right to be “built up”.
Lettuce Liz told a podcast: “I certainly think it would be a crazy thing to rule out at this stage. What I think needs to happen is a bigger popular movement needs to be built up in the country that wants change.

“That is what we’re missing at the moment.”
But Lettuce Liz said she would not defect to Mr Farage’s party and has “no plans” to return to the Commons.
Tory leadership hopefuls Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick have both criticised Reform UK. Ms Badenoch, the bookies’ favourite, has said that the leadership of Reform UK are not “real conservatives” or “serious people”.
“They are parking their tanks on our lawn and we need to get them off,” she told the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham.
Mr Jenrick has said he wants to put Reform “out of business” by making them “redundant” on issues such as migration.
