Elderly lady ‘will get eaten by uncontrolled canine’ as cops say ‘right here we go once more’

An elderly woman fell victim to a grim attack from her neighbour’s dog after she fell over in her driveway.

The unidentified woman was walking down her Louisiana, US, driveway when she tumbled over, according to neighbour Randall Averette speaking to WBRZ. While she tried to get to her feet, one of her neighbour’s dogs started “tearing her up”. “When I went over there, she was laying on the ground, paramedics bandaging her up,” Averette said, while describing her injuries as “graphic”.

He added: “The paramedics said she was torn up pretty good around her calf, her right leg was bit, her arm was bit and the dog bit her on the back of her neck.”

Another neighbour said she called the authorities as soon as she saw the victim on the ground.

“She had to stand there and watch it,” said the neighbour’s daughter, Cheryl Boudreaux. “She was like, ‘Y’all need to hurry up and get here. Hurry up and get here. They are eating this woman.’ Then, mama said the lady wasn’t moving and mama thought she was dead.”

The woman was taken to a local hospital

The woman was brought to a local hospital and her condition remains unclear. A woman thought to be the dog’s owner has been arrested and charged with negligent injuring and dogs not to run at large.

“You can be charged with negligent injuring and you can be sued by these homeowners for medical bills,” Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said. “It’s going to come back to bite you, that’s what’s going to happen.”

Ard also noted one of Vincent’s dogs had been involved in a past incident where it had bitten someone. “She’s been through the system already, she’s been fined,” Ard said of Vincent. “Here we are again, same dog, same situation. Now someone is seriously hurt, something has got to change.”

The officer confirmed Vincent’s three dogs had all been taken to Livingston Parish Animal Control Centre, saying the owner had surrendered two of them. It’s unclear what happened to the surrendered dogs.
