King Charles ‘cuts off’ brother Prince Andrew in brutal transfer after months of infighting
King Charles has reportedly slashed the purse strings of his brother Prince Andrew after months of intense pressure from advisors. This financial freeze is said to have their relationship at rock bottom.
The brotherly tension has been brewing for ages over the 30-room Royal Lodge, as Charles previously suggested a move to Frogmore Cottage – only to be met by Andrew’s stubborn refusal. The latest comes from a new tell-all book claiming that the Keeper of the Privy Purse has got orders to chop off Andrew’s hefty £1million yearly handout.
And that’s not all – he won’t have his security costs covered either. A source said “The duke is no longer a financial burden on the King,” according to Royal author Robert Hardman’s fresh biography.

Early in the year, whispers went about that Charles had thrown down the gauntlet, telling Andrew to pack up from Royal Lodge or face dire consequences. The 64-year-old’s unyielding snub of the swanky alternate pad, freshly ditched by Harry and Meghan, is believed to have truly ticked Charles off.

A source told the Times last summer: “The King’s kindness is not without limit and there is a very good option for Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, recently vacated by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which also has the benefit of being within the Windsor Castle security cordon hence reducing the need for alternative round-the-clock security for Royal Lodge.”
An associate of the Duke of York has suggested to the press that he may “dig in” if the current impasse persists, noting that he’s already had a “stay of execution” due to recent health issues faced by Sarah Ferguson and the King, reports the Mirror.
This development follows the king and queen’s triumphant tour of Australia. The royals shared on X: “As our visits to Australia and Samoa come to a close, my wife and I would like to thank both nations for the warmest of welcomes and for the countless fond memories we will carry in our hearts for many years to come. Even when we are far apart in distance, the many close connections that unite us across the globe and through our Commonwealth family have been renewed, and will remain as profound as they are enduring.”
