Pep Guardiola responds to Man Utd appointing Ruben Amorim with ominous warning
Pep Guardiola admits the arrival of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United will motivate him to be even more successful.
United have appointed Amorim on a deal until 2027, following the sacking of Erik ten Hag this week. And Guardiola admits it will be another top level coach from Europe he will have to compete against as Manchester City boss.
The Spaniard said: “Unai Emery is here, Iraola is here, many top managers. Every manager has new ideas. Of course it will improve myself. There are now more rivals.

“How many times I faced Jurgen (Klopp), or now Mikel (Arteta) in the last few years. It’s normal how much you face them, and they’re fighting with you to be champions.
“I’m completely honest, I learn a lot from other managers. The problems they create. It makes you better.” Guardiola will clash with Amorim next week when City travel to Lisbon to face his Sporting team in the Champions League.
And Guardiola added: “I will congratulate him next Tuesday. We faced each other a few seasons ago. I expect the best (from Sporting on Tuesday). These opponents always put the best performance in. I’m sure they will do. It’s the Champions League against Manchester City.”
