UK diners proceed to fork out £84 month-to-month on meals out – for one important cause
Research reveals that adults are likely to spend over £62,000 on dining out in their lifetime, with steak or a classic roast being the preferred meals.
A study involving 2,000 adults discovered that despite attempts to curb spending habits, individuals still shell out an average of £84 per month on food consumed outside the home.
Two thirds are currently trying to be mindful of their spending with 46% keen to cut costs on dining out. Yet, 74% believe that a meal out with friends or family is money well spent.

This research was commissioned by Compare the Market, found that a staggering 44% confessed they’d dine out with their family every day if given the chance.
Two thirds of those surveyed consider going out for a meal as their top choice for spending quality time with loved ones, saying it’s ‘ideal bonding time’ – surpassing activities like catching up at home or going for a walk.
Kristin Sonfield, a spokesperson, commented: “Food brings us together – but the cost of meals out definitely adds up” As dining out together is important for so many people, thinking about how you could save money at the same time is a smart idea.”
For some 41% they just enjoy sampling foods they can’t easily prepare at home and see it as an opportunity to create new memories.
