Ian Wright gave a hilarious reaction to Alan Shearer after Arsenal’s defeat by Newcastle on Saturday.

Newcastle made their marks in the title race as they beat the Gunners 1-0 in Premier League action, with Alexander Isak’s first half goal the difference and Mikel Arteta‘s side unable to come back.

Arsenal are now fourth in the Premier League table, and Shearer, who is a Newcastle legend, wasn’t about to let his former Match of the Day colleague escape without being mocked.

Wright is an Arsenal legend in his own right and an avid supporter of the team, though was on the wrong end of the bragging rights with his friend this weekend.

A video, filmed by Alan Shearer and shared to the pundit’s social media, showed Shearer mocking his colleague, with Wright offering an expletive-filled reply in response.

Wright, in a wheelchair due to him being in recovery from knee replacement surgery, was filmed arriving in a building, and began laughing when he noticed Shearer was filming him.

Getting in first, Wright joked: ‘F*** off’, causing Shearer to break out into further laughter.

The Premier League’s all-time leading goal scorer then said: ‘It was only 1-0.’

Wright replied: ‘F***ing shut your mouth.’

Shearer added: ‘We love you Wrighty, we love you,’ as Wright wheeled away having given his friend a death stare.’

He had formerly shared a photo of the two together, captioned: ‘Together today for Premier League tv Newcastle v Arsenal. we have promised no hard feelings whatever the result!!!’

The duo were alongside each other on Match of the Day for a number of years, with Wright stepping down from the show at the end of last season.

‘It’s time,’ Wright told The Overlap of his departure from the programme. ‘I had a dear friend who said that sometimes you’ve got to know when to step back, change, rest, have a break, and say no – it’s just time.

‘The way I am now, because I have to get back to London [after filming] it’s like 3.30am in the morning – it’s a long day. I leave at 8am in the morning and get back at 12am.

‘I don’t want to stay over in Manchester. I used to but there are personal reasons why I always want to get back home. Especially, when you’re on Match of the Day, you’re live and I’ve had a massive problem before with people knowing where you are, so I always want to get back home to the Missus and the girls.’
